SiteGround offers shared hosting options in three pricing tiers:
- $9.95 per month full price
- $13.95 per month full price
- $29.95 per month full price
Their shared options come with Joomla and WordPress automatically installed, cPanel and SSH access, free setup and transfers, and 99.99% uptime. They also cache using Cloudflare CDN and SuperCacher, so their sites, even at the shared level, offer superior query speed than a lot of competitors. As you move up the tiers you get more power as well as eCommerce optimization, more webspace, and your MySQL databases are stored on SSD instead of SAS. You also get enhanced backup and restore services.
For all of their shared plans, you get unlimited MySQL databases, unlimited FTP accounts, and unlimited sub and parked domains (within reason, of course). Naturally, it’s not actually unlimited; rather, it’s contingent on reasonable use.
Their shared hosting runs CentOS and is accessed through their own enhanced cPanel interface (preinstalled).
And, naturally, they have a 30 day money back guarantee, because they want to shift the risk onto themselves.
Cloud and dedicated servers
SiteGround also offers cloud and dedicated hosting solutions. Let’s dig more into those.
SiteGround’s cloud hosting solution starts at $60.00 and scales all the way up to enterprise options for $140 per month. Their least expensive plan gets you:
- 3.0GHz CPU
- 2GB DDR3 RAM
- 20GB disk space
- 5TB bandwidth
As you progress up the plans, you get more CPU power, more RAM, and more disk space, capping at 4x 3.0GHz CPU, 4GB RAM, and 80GB disk space. They also have an option to create your own plan, so you can scale your cloud solution to exactly what you need. Like their shared options, SiteGround runs its cloud solution on CentOS and doesn’t let their customers root access.
SiteGround offers both managed and unmanaged dedicated server solutions to its customers. Starting at $229 for a managed server, SiteGround offers:
- Intel i3-540 3.06GHz CPU
- 3.06Ghz CPU Clock Speed
- Dual-core (2) CPU Cores
- 4MB CPU Cache
- 4GB DDR3 RAM
- 500GB SATA II HDD HDD
- 5TB Bandwidth
Their higher tiers (priced at $329 and $429) use Intel Xeon CPUs, have more cores, larger caches, more RAM, and more hard drive space (4x 500GB SATA II/RAID 10 HDD).
SiteGround runs its dedicated managed servers on Linux CentOS, the same as their shared and cloud hosting options.
However, should you opt for unmanaged, then you’re granted root access and you can run whatever Linux distribution suits you. The cost is exactly the same. However, if you choose to go the root access/unmanaged route, then your site (unless you’re absolutely on top of it) is unlikely to be kept as up-to-date as SiteGround keeps their managed accounts. This could result in a lapse in security for your server.
